Brian Keith Lucas was born in Washington DC on August 3, 1965 to Carse and Ruby Lucas. He spent much of his early childhood in Southeast DC, moving to Lanham Maryland when he was in the third grade. Brian accepted the Lord as his savior on a Tuesday night, in the month of February, 1978. Soon after, he joined the Open Door Baptist Church in Southeast Washington DC, pastored by the late Reverend Dr. Theodore our Harris. He, his brother Michael, and several friends were quite faithful to Open Door, attending Sunday School, worship service, and Bible study. Within a year, he became the Chairman of the Junior Deacon Board.

 

Brian graduated from Duval high school in 1983, And immediately entered into Washington Bible College.  After four years at WBC, (now Lancaster Bible College), he entered into Capital Bible Seminary the graduate school of WBC, still needing 18 credits to complete his undergraduate degree. After two years at CBS, he was actually kicked out of Seminary because he was closer to a masters degree that he was to his Baccalaureate degree.

 

In 1989 he married Miss Tonya E Eldridge, and soon began a family. After becoming a father of five, (Ashley, John, James, Brian Junior, and Danielle), he enrolled in Liberty Baptist University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in the Bible. 18 years had a lapsed since entering W BC. He then received his first masters degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in 2009. That’s when he began working on his PhD degree from a small Bible school and Seminary in Daytona Florida. He earned his PhD in 2021 after 12 years. His educational journey was long, but he persevered until he completed it.

 

Brian preached his initial sermon on October 14,1980 at Open Door Baptist Church, as a15-year-old young man. He was licensed and ordained by the Open Door Baptist Church in 1980 and 1989 respectively. He became the pastor on an interim basis after the death of Dr. Harris in November 1989. In April 1990, he and his wife planted Christian fellowship missionary Baptist Church. Christian fellowship was not a successful church plantand  he became affiliated with the community Baptist Church in Jessup Maryland, pastored by the late Dr. Robert T. Hurte. The Lucas family relocated from Jessup, Maryland to Greensboro, North Carolina in September 2007.

 

Once in Greensboro, the Lucas family united with The New Zion Missionary Baptist Church also in Greensboro. There he served as a Sunday school teacher, married couples leader, and as an Associate  Pastor. After several years and his children having reached adulthood, he and Mrs. Lucas joined the new light missionary Baptist Church also in Greensboro, Pastored by Dr Cardes H. Brown , Jr.                 

 

In 2018, he joined the Persimmon Grove AME  Church in Greensboro, North Carolina under capable leadership of the Rev.  Dr. Deborah Lawson Smith. Upon entering the AME church, he was immediately advanced to the second year of BOE studies, allowing him to be elected an Itinerate Deacon. At the the 133rd Annual Conference of the Western North Carolina Conference, he was elected and ordained an Itinerate Elder. Brian has pastored the St.  Steven AME Church in Mount Gilead and the Friendship AME Church in Ramseur, North Carolina. At the 133rd convening of the WNCC, Bishop Reginald T. Jackson appointed him to the Maxwell Chapel AME Church in Graham, North Carolina.

First Lady Tonya Lucas

Tonya Evetta Lucas was born on May 11th 1971 to Reverend and Reverend Mary Alice and Clarence G. Eldridge in Cheverly, Maryland. She is the youngest child, in a family of four siblings.  She grew up in Lanham, going to the Lanham based elementary, middle and high schools for her public educational journey. He senior year in high school was full.  She turned 18, graduated and got married to Reverend Brian Lucas.

in the next seven years, she would have 5 children, Ashley LaChelle, John Christopher, James Anthony, Brian Justin and Danielle Nicole. Almost simeltanrous with getting married she and Brian took weekly care of Brian's niece Karelainia. A wonderful mother, who's love for her children caused her to forgo entrance into the work force until they entered school.

She really haves worked extensively for two companies.She spent over 13 years in the accounting department of Enterprise Rent A Car. After she reached the pinnacle of her position at ERAC of as an Accounting Co-ordinates, she began her pursuit of a degree in Accounting. In 2011, she completed her studies at Liberty University with her Bachelors of Arts in Accounting. In 2014 her job at ERAC ended as a result of the closing of the Adminstrative Office where she worked.  Soon thereafter she joined Bell Partners Incorporated, where she still works as the Manager of the Property Cash Reporting Group.

Tonya's family were members of First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Maryland, u dear the capable direction of Rev. Dr. John Wesley Smith Johnson.  It as a child of 9, that she surrendered her life to Christ. Tonya accepted her call to preach while attending Community Baptist Church of Jessup, Maryland, pastored by Rev. Dr. Robert T. Hurte. She lived under the spiritual authority of Dr. Hurte, who did not believe in women preachers. Upon joining New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC, she was licensed to preach in December 2009. As an AME she has been licensed as an Exhorter by Persimmon Grove, by Rev. Dr. Debora L. Smith, and Maxwell Chapel AME , by her husband, Rev. Dr. Brian Lucas.
